Hello, Inferno986return! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. --Traveler100 (talk) 04:19, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Default address parameters[edit]

Hello, and thank you so much for being so active and adding so much content!

Just a small pointer here: With the exception of the United Kingdom, listings do not include the name of the city, province, postal code or other default information. The reason why the UK is an exception is that postal codes there are not for entire cities or more, but actually help a traveller to find a place. That's not the case in countries like Italy. Please see Wikivoyage:Listings#Template parameters for reference, and let me know if you have any questions.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:17, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

England Expedition[edit]

Hi, I notice you doing a lot of improvements to UK articles. Just wondering if you are aware of Wikivoyage:England Expedition. --Traveler100 (talk) 14:38, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Well done![edit]

Adding geo co-ordinates to seemingly every page in the British Isles is a tedious and thankless task, but one you've thrown yourself into with gusto. So, by way of a small thank you and recognition for your hard work, I award you this Wikivoyage Barncompass. Excellent work, Inferno986return, keep it up! --ThunderingTyphoons! Thank you very much.

Dynamic maps on country and state articles[edit]

Hi there, I noticed you recently added {{mapframe}} to a number of country and state articles. We currently don't use those kinds of maps at the country/state/province level (or any region that has subregions) because we're still developing ways to make colour-coded regions on them. We also tend to avoid using the {{mapframe}} if there's already a static map on the page. There's more information on how we use {{mapframe}} at the Dynamic maps Expedition. I raised the issue at the Travellers Pub, so please feel free to jump in and comment there. Cheers -Shaundd (talk) 04:37, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Fair enough, I wasn't completely aware of this. I will however continue to add GPS co-ordinates to the cities and other destinations of countries. As well as dynamic maps using {{mapframe}} for areas that lack colour-coded regional breakdowns. I do love dynamic maps a lot and do think that most of Wikivoyage should utilise them. Administrator nomination[edit]

Hello Inferno986returns, given your extensive and ongoing contributions to Wikivoyage, would you consider becoming an administrator? This would give you extra tools to help improve the project. I hope you will consider it. Ground Zero (talk) 12:30, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

11 days later, I guess not, but a reply would probably be appreciated. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:52, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
I am kind of torn on it, but I do find it a honour. Inferno986return (talk) 12:52, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Wikivoyage:Wikivoyage edit-a-thon 2018[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you added the userbox indicating that you're participating in the edit-a-thon but I don't see your name in the participants table. Would you mind adding yourself and the pages you expanded to the table? Thanks. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:35, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

Done. Inferno986return (talk) 10:37, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

Dynamic maps discussion[edit]

Hi! Given your edit history, you would probably be interested in participating in a discussion that's been going on in the pub regarding the use of dynamic maps in region and country articles: Wikivoyage:Travellers' Pub#Duplicate maps. Tube stations for All London POI?[edit]

This may be of interest, It's from 2008, so you might want to search around to see if there's been an updated version? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 18:58, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

This is an interesting document that I was not aware of. I suppose to get an updated version there may need to be another Freedom of Information request if one hasn't been published via TfL directly. Inferno986return (talk) 20:59, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
Yes. Sorry the one that I found is old. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:16, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
It's helpful, the fact it lists many notable landmarks and the nearest Tube stations alone can help us make better pages. It's a good find. :-) Inferno986return (talk) 15:26, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

London terminals redirects[edit]

Hi. Good idea to create redirects for the main London terminal stations. However, I was thinking that rather than redirect just to the relevant district article, they'd be more useful to redirect to the station's listing within that article. In order to do this, we'd have to use the listing template and make sure the Wikidata field was active. This idea is already in use with IATA redirects for airports without their own article (e.g. LCY). What say you? --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 22:13, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

This has been a standard of mine for quite a while and I certainly find it helpful myself as it allows travellers to easily see where they will end up or go from. I have provided a list of most, if not all the stations that have been redirected on my profile. The only anomaly is London Bridge station as London Bridge goes to a disambiguation page. I'll make a start with London Paddington and go from there. Inferno986return (talk) 15:44, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
