Add topicHello, Boeing429! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.--Traveler100 (talk) 13:14, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
You can ask a question of any contributor on their talk page. If a general question best to ask at Travellers' pub, will get more responses and probably quicker. --Traveler100 (talk) 04:14, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Userboxes
[edit]How do you get the userboxes to work? Because they don’t work for me —The preceding comment was added by Boeing429 (talk • contribs)
- First things first: make sure whenever you write a comment that, at the end of the comment, you include ~~~~, which when you publish your comment automatically converts to your signature.
- On this specific topic, what exactly is going wrong? Could you explain some more? Thanks! --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:39, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- Welcome, Boeing429. Our tools are a bit more complicated than usual for a website; I'm really sorry that it's so frustrating. But we're willing to help out. Can you tell me what you'd like to do? Maybe paste a link to a page that you like into this section? (Try the [Edit] button right next to the "Userboxes" section heading. It'll help keep everything together.) - Are you talking about userboxes like the ones in Wikipedia and Commons? To my understanding, only the language boxes work (easily) here, and to get other kinds of boxes on your user page (some users here have them), you need to write complicated wikicode. -- ϒψιλον (talk) 16:38, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Boeing429: If these are indeed the userboxes you're looking for, then feel free to use my bare-bones userbox version which Ypsilon linked above. Use it like you would with any other template. Documentation can be found here. It does require more manual input than usual userboxes, but I believe that one of Wikivoyages guidelines goes against cluttering up the website with all sorts of templates, so this adaptation is supposed to be broader than Wikipedia's userboxes, which are often as specific as "This user browses the web with Firefox" or "This user lives in Boston". If this kind of userbox is what you're looking for, then be my guest and use it for your own purposes :)

Delete all babel boxes--just use the parser function. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 22:21, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
