Welcome[edit]

Welcome[edit]

Hello, JasDolt! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals. Gizza (roam) 01:17, 16 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, welcome. It is good to see a new editor for Philippine destinations. Pashley (talk) 00:58, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoyage:Phone numbers and Wikivoyage:Listings[edit]

Hi JasDolt, please click on the two links in the heading of this section to see Wikivoyage's policies on phone numbers and listings. In particular, please remember to add "+63" and remove "0" from Filipino phone numbers. Adding the country codes makes the phone number accessible to international readers too. And for listings, generally we do not include the name of the city, province and country in the address. This is because it is redundant when all of the listings on one page are in the same city. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Gizza (roam) 23:17, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Formatting[edit]

Thanks for your contributions. Please:

  • don't type in capital letters. It makes Wikivoyage look like a mess, and is harder for people with visual impairments to read— see wv:CAPS;
  • add +63 in front of the phone number — see wv:phone;
  • don't add "Alaminos, Philippines" in an article that is only about Alaminos, Philippines — we don't need to repeat that information — see wv:listings.
  • use "noon" or "midnight", which are clear, instead of 12PM or 12AM, because people don't agree on whether noon is 12AM or 12PM — see wv:time.

@JasDolt: Why are you ignoring the advice I've provided to you above? Why do you choose to ignore Wikivoyage's policies? Are you trying to be rude? Stop it. It is easier to leave out "City, Province, Philippines" then to add it. Please fix your errors, and stop making new ones. Ground Zero (talk) 03:22, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please fix your mistakes before you make more. It is not the job of other editors to fix your mistakes. Ground Zero (talk) 03:38, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@JasDolt: What don't you understand? Ground Zero (talk) 03:39, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoyage is a collaborative project. That means you have to work with other people. You can't just do your own thing and ignore th community of editors that has built this project. Ground Zero (talk) 03:44, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Should I impose a temporary block in order to give you some time to read about Wikivoyage policies? Ground Zero (talk) 03:47, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to bed now so I'm blocking you to stop you from carrying on this way. Please consider how you want to behave in Wikivoyage. This way is not acceptable. Ground Zero (talk) 03:55, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@JasDolt: I have removed the block to find out if you are interested in working collaboratively in Wikivoyage. Are you willing to clean up your edits? If you return to just dumping lists of restaurants into articles without regard to Wikivoyage rules, I will block you again. Ground Zero (talk) 10:53, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh sorry, will fix it. 182.232.178.25 10:56, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, JasDolt. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:57, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Phone number formatting[edit]

Hi @JasDolt, I just came to your page to offer a bit of feedback regarding phone number format and noticed that it seems to be an ongoing issue. As @Ground Zero has already discussed with you, please ad +63 in front of phone numbers. I have just corrected over 15 phone numbers for the listings you've added to San Carlos (Pangasinan), Southwest Pampanga, Tayug, and Umingan. I noticed a few other errors that have already been explained to you, and tried to fix those as I caught them.

Your enthusiasm towards this project is great. However, we all have to take some constructive criticism at some point in order to improve. @Ground Zero and @Gizza provided you with some really great feedback, and I'm strongly urging you to take a look at it again before adding more listings.

Thank you! Cmbc0883 (talk) 07:46, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
