Split?

Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Palm Coast are all distinct from each other, and the number of destinations within this region has reached 18. I would suggest it could be time, or could soon be time, to split this article into regions. I would propose these regions:

• Metro Jacksonville: Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Mayport, Orange Park, Green Cove Springs, and Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve
• St. Johns County: St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra Beach, Vilano Beach, Butler Beach, and Crescent Beach
• Flagler County: Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, Hammock Beach, and Bulow State Park
• Nassau County: Amelia Island, Callahan (Florida), and Yulee

An additional advantage of this region breakdown is that it avoids the current confusion regarding Clay County, which is considered to be part of the First Coast region due to its northeastern part, which includes Jacksonville suburbs, even though Keystone Heights in the southwestern part of the county is clearly part of Inland Florida. Splitting by urban area rather than county makes sense in this case, while in the other subregions the county lines provide an excellent way to split the First Coast region. I would note two things that may confuse some outsiders. First, Ponte Vedra Beach is an exclusive resort, so although it is closer to Jacksonville than St. Augustine, splitting it from Jacksonville is reasonable. Second, St. Augustine is often identified on maps as part of Jacksonville Metro, but it is indeed a highly independent city with its own tourist draws and is despite being smaller than Jacksonville, is more important from a tourist's perspective due to its historical sites. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 19:35, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

• Support I can see the shortcomings of the Flagler County and Nassau County articles, having only three articles each, but if there is a reasonable amount of content to sustain a region article, then I'm all for it (take Lower Darling, which only has 4 articles categorized beneath it, for example).   I agree that's a shortcoming of the region hierarchy, but I'm not sure how else to categorize those regions. Flagler County is dominated by Palm Coast, although it's possible that an article could be created for Bulow. In Nassau County, the likeliest candidate for a new article is probably Bryceville.
