Yet another glorified stub added for points in a competition. No useful information for travelers. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:29, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • To be fair, the Muni Estuary is the boundary between Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, but since per Google Maps, a trip from Rio Muni to Libreville requires a hugely circuitous route and takes close to 11 hours to drive, listings in Libreville are not that useful. I suppose a boat trip would take less time, but could you really stay in Libreville and do a viable day trip to the park and back? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:06, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SHB2000, it really feels discouraging when you keep saying I am making contributions because I want to win points. This reserve is near the border of Gabon, and I thought adding accomodation near to the reserve and close to the border should be provided. You should have advised or given me ideas on what to do instead of just concluding that I am making contributions because of points. You can do better please! Thanks. Aderiqueza (talk) 09:21, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aderiqueza, how long does it take to travel between Libreville and the reserve? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:56, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ikan Kekek, Now I understand better on why listing in Libreville might not be useful because it might be stressful for some travelers because of it being indirect and the long hours drive. SHB2000 should have advised on this instead of making conclusion that I am editing because of points. I am open to corrections and I will definitely correct my mistakes anytime I am asked to. Not everyone that makes contributions here does that because of points. The major goal for making my contributions here is to let travelers know more about Africa and see the amazing places worth exploring here in Africa , and I will definitely do my best to make it easy and stress-free for travelers.Aderiqueza (talk) 12:52, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aderiqueza, I knew this was near the border, but given that there are zero roads crossing the border in the near vicinity, common sense would have tell that listing accommodation in another country is something that no traveller would ever do, and therefore, something that was incentivised.
On the other hand, I apologize if my comments have caused any offence; however, this is how it came out to me. I will try and do better in the future in making more constructive criticism, but please acknowledge the fact that what you did is something that no traveller will ever do. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 23:08, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

General consensus here is leaning towards delete though the article has significantly improved since Dec 23. What shall we do now? --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 02:06, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks barely useful now, such that it should be either kept or merged somewhere, but Aderiqueza, could you tell us how far Bata is from the reserve, and how long it would take to get from there and by what means? Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:56, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This phrasebook for a language spoken by 3,400 people has no translations. w:Jiru language is only one sentence long, so I don't think there is much chance of this getting any useful content. Created as part of the Explore Africa Contest, but was not on the list of suggestions. AlasdairW (talk) 22:07, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They have also created three phrasebooks, too:

All for deletion? Please Do they all have contain issues of copyright violation? Nelospecial (talk) 23:06, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Nelospecial: Don't know how I missed your comment, but only you can definitely say yes or no to whether these were copied verbatim from somewhere. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 01:19, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think we can just redirect Hlane National Park to Hlane Royal National Park. If User:Nelospecial is able to expand the Hlane Royal National Park article, it would become more useful to travellers. Ground Zero (talk) 01:41, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Are we confident that the phrasebooks are accurate? Is your hovercraft full of eels? Ground Zero (talk) 02:04, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Could you Nelospecial please check the phrasebooks you have created, make sure everything is correct, and then tell whether the phrasebooks of yours are reliable. You could also tell something about how well you know these languages and whether you have had some native speaker check them, unless you yourself are one. –LPfi (talk) 11:17, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I conducted an advanced native speaker to examine the Esan phrasebook. But I will check once more for any corrections. Nelospecial (talk) 13:44, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Nelospecial. Ground Zero (talk) 14:08, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Outcome: phrasebooks kept, city articles deleted. Ground Zero (talk) 19:17, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This disambiguation has no links to extant articles except to Central Sulawesi and Asia. JsfasdF252 (talk) 00:11, 26 January 2023 (UTC); edited 00:12, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

All red links, so no point to it so far. Ikan Kekek (talk)
If someone wants to do the work, there might eventually be several articles; see w:Banggai Islands Regency for a starting point. In that case, a disambig page would be needed. Pashley (talk) 11:39, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

According to Google, this forest is "permanently closed". The US Forest Service has no mention of it on its website. Even if it still exists, it does not appear to be open for tourism. Ground Zero (talk) 19:05, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • In that case, there wouldn't appear to be any reason to have a destination article for it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:37, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • And there is no travel content in the article, and little other information. Easy to recreate (from scratch or otherwise) if it becomes a viable destination in the future. –LPfi (talk) 22:24, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • My understanding of what happened here is that this national forest was established in 1908, but was largely given over to the military during WWII and is now mostly a United States Air Force base. What remains of the national forest is actually a few scattered parcels of land that are mixed use, there are no visitor facilities of any kind, and much of what remains is not even a forest anymore. So I would have to agree that there is no need for an article about it here. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:42, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • According to w:Choctawhatchee National Forest:
The current portion of the Choctawhatchee, that is still managed by the Forest Service, consists of several dispersed parcels that total only 1,110 acres (1.73 sq mi, or 4.492 km²) ... and are managed by the Apalachicola National Forest.
We have an article on Apalachicola National Forest so redirect there. Pashley (talk) 01:38, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I guess that makes sense, given what you say. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:51, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Outcome: redirected. Ground Zero (talk) 12:38, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[from Special:PermanentLink/4620085#Pidgin phrasebook]

Pidgin is a type of language and not a specific language. JsfasdF252 (talk) 04:09, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect to Tok Pisin phrasebook Pashley (talk) 04:13, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If so, move it (without a redirect) to "Nigerian pidgin phrasebook" or "West African pidgin phrasebook". I prefer the latter since the WP article says related dialects are spoken outside Nigeria. Then add a link in Pidgin. Pashley (talk) 11:58, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is enough content to be certain it is not referring to Tok Pisin. We should preserve the content by not deleting. However, we definitely do not want "Pidgin phrasebook" as a title since there is no one Pidgin language & we already have a Pidgin article.
Move, without redirect. Pashley (talk) 20:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, move. But where? I wouldn't like "West African pidgin phrasebook", as I am pretty sure this pidgin isn't understood in say Senegal. It seems there are quite big variations already in Nigeria, but those may be workable. It seems to me that "Nigerian pidgin phrasebook" is good enough. Some dialects outside Nigeria can be covered also under that title, and if somebody would be offended by their dialect being called so, we can leave it to another phrasebook to be created if somebody cares enough. –LPfi (talk) 22:18, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is something the article's creator really should have made clear, but it seems evident from their other contributions that is probably referring to Nigerian Pidgin. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:38, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seems there is consensus on moving the article, and Nigerian Pidgin phrasebook seems to be appropriate. Will be moved without redirect. –LPfi (talk) 14:33, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Abandoned stub since Jan 18. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 23:06, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Outcome: kept

Unnecessary. See the article's talk page. Pashley (talk) 07:27, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have started Digital nomad so this can now be redirected there. I do not think there is anything worth merging, but redirect rather than delete to preserve the talk page. Pashley (talk) 06:27, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we ever delete talk pages of delete articles, unless the talk pages are spam, vandalism or the like. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:49, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, to be clear, I don't see that as a reason to redirect a term, rather than delete it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 14:38, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Over two weeks since nomination, Delete now. Pashley (talk) 23:12, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Nothing has been added since it was nominated. Digital nomad is a much more useful article, but I don't see any value in a redirect due to the similar title. AlasdairW (talk) 23:35, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Outcome: deleted Pashley (talk) 06:02, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
