Appearance
The South West Coast Path is the longest national trail in the United Kingdom.
Understand
[edit]The South West Coast Path (SWCP) at 630 mi (1,010 km) long is the longest waymarked National Trail in the UK. Starting at Minehead in Somerset it runs along the coastline of Exmoor, North Devon and Cornwall to Land's End. Then it continues east following the South Cornish, Devon and Dorset coastline before finally ending at Poole Harbour.
Prepare
[edit]- Many people find that they can confortably walk about 100 mi (160 km) in a week, so allow about two months to walk the complete route.
- You will need to plan your overnight stops and possibly book these well in advance. As some accommodation doesn't accept single night bookings, you may want to use a town as a base for a few days connecting to the route by public transport each day.
- If you don't want to carry a heavy pack every day, Luggage Transfers will move your bag between overnight stops, if your are walking between March and October.
Get in
[edit]The South West Coast Path officially starts at the SWCP Monument in Minehead.
