[edit]- For Grinnell, I recommend File:Grinnell Iowa - downtown.jpg, cropped so that the sign that says "Grinnell, Iowa" is showing. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:01, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- @WhatamIdoing: Done. I just noticed that no-one got to your request; although I'm 2.5 months late, I've added a banner. Apologies for the (very long) delay (FYI: feel free to drop a message on my talk page for a faster response, as I don't check this page regularly). SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:20, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- I don't mind the delay. I like having a place to put suggestions and then have other people do the difficult parts. ;-)

- I suggest the banner image of Seoul/Songpa(Link-> https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Seoul/Songpa)
cropped image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lotte_World_Tower_near_Cheongdam_Bridge_crop.jpg original image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lotte_World_Tower_near_Cheongdam_Bridge.jpg --Yunjinlee (talk) 06:30, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- There is a already a banner on Seoul/Songpa. This was deleted by accident last month, but I have just restored it. If you wish to replace the existing banner, please discuss it on Talk:Seoul/Songpa; this page is for suggesting banners for articles which don't have a banner. AlasdairW (talk) 14:53, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- For Seoul/East, I suggest File:Heunginjimun, Seoul.jpg The current photo shows the front of Heunginjimun, which is called Heunginjimun, not Dongdaemun. For pixels, we recommend 2100*300, including the top front angle.--Jiwon8230 (talk) 06:33, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- There is a already a banner on Seoul/East. If you wish to replace the existing banner, please discuss it on Talk:Seoul/East; this page is for suggesting banners for articles which don't have a banner. I also don't think that this photo would make a good banner when cropped to 7:1, File:Dongdaemun Gate or Heunginjimun gate.jpg would look better. AlasdairW (talk) 14:53, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

[edit]- For Gwangyang, I suggest Yi_Sun-sin_Bridge. Currently, only jars are listed on the banner on the Gwangyang page, which is too bad to be set as a banner representing the area called Gwangyang. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels. Hojong9474 (talk) 06:08, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done Gwangyang already has a banner; any change to the banner should be proposed on the talk page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:44, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Please start a discussion at Talk:Gwangyang. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:38, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

- For Minamata, I suggestion banner change to Minamata_City_Central_from_Nakaoyama_2020. This picture gives a better view of Minamata as the overall. --Cookinu (talk) 06:13, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done. Minamata already has a banner; any change to the banner should be proposed on the talk page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:58, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Cookinu, do you know how to start a discussion? You can see what one of your classmates did at Talk:Depok#New Banner Suggestion. Click on Talk:Minamata and then find the big blue button that says "Start a discussion". It's similar to sending an e-mail message, with a subject (title) and a message. - Not done. Minamata already has a banner; any change to the banner should be proposed on the talk page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:58, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Incheon, I suggest Incheon_Gugsabong_view. Existing banners feel dull, and Incheon is connected to the sea, which is a big advantage. I think it would be better if the photo with the advantage was changed to a banner. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:23, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done 1) Please discuss changing the banner on the article's talk page first. 2) Images for banners suggested must be 1800 pixels wide or grater - images can't be upscaled. AlasdairW (talk) 10:14, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Yeongdeok, I suggest thumb|영덕 대게. Currently, Yeongdeok's banner is boring. Yeongdeok is famous for snow crabs, so if this picture is longer, I can add it to Yeongdeok's banner Baekjiwoo (talk) 06:22, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done. Yeongdeok is a redlink – did you make a typo or something? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:51, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SHB2000 I think the student meant Yeongdeok County. I'll tell them today to start a talk page discussion in such cases. Are the talk page discussions really monitored (instead of this central location?) Piotrus (talk) 03:10, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: The usual practice is to start a talk page discussion and then list the discussion on Wikivoyage:Request for comments#Banner discussions. Have a look at some of those discussions for an idea of what these discussions are like. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 05:14, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SHB2000 I see. May I suggest summarizing the best practices you menton in the heading above? (Somewhere after "This is where you can list suggestions for new page banners.")? Piotrus (talk) 08:43, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

- @Baekjiwoo, could you please start a discussion at Talk:Yeongdeok County about this? Look at Talk:Gayasan National Park#Banner suggestion or Talk:Tiel#Changing the banner. (don't worry about the picture part) to see how your classmates are doing this. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:35, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

- Not done. Stanley is a disambiguation page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:50, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Stanley banner, I suggest images from User:Kcjsew/UserWikivoyage.Banner suggestions ~~ Kcjsew (talk) 06:01, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SHB2000 I mean this Stanley (North Dakota) Kcjsew (talk) 06:03, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Kcjsew: Only File:High Bushblades - geograph.org.uk - 2856089.jpg meets the minimum 2100x300-pixel requirement and take is taken in County Durham, England, not N Dakota. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 06:32, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done. Stanley is a disambiguation page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:50, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Tongyeong, I suggest File:Korea-Tongyeong . Currently, the banner of Tongyeong Page feels difficult to recognize at a glance. I chose this picture as a banner because the scenery of going up by cable car and looking at the skywalk is beautiful, and it is a place I visit a lot when traveling.--Iddd00 (talk) 06:43, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Iddd00, this image is big enough. Could you please start a discussion at Talk:Tongyeong? Look at Talk:Gayasan National Park#Banner suggestion or Talk:Tiel#Changing the banner. (don't worry about the picture part) to see how your classmates are doing this. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:33, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Jeju, I suggest KOCIS_Halla_Mountain_in_Jeju-do_(6387785543). The existing "Jeju" banner feels a little desolate and has a dull color. I think the banner I present is better suited to the banner of "Jeju" because the image quality is clear and the flowers of Hallasan Mountain and Jeju are well harmonized. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:32, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done Please discuss changing the banner on the article's talk page. AlasdairW (talk) 10:24, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

- Not done Please discuss changing the banner on the article's talk page. AlasdairW (talk) 10:24, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Busan, I suggest Korea-Busan-Busan_Tower-01. Busan is a city with a developed port. Currently, the banner of "Busan" is good, but the picture is a little dark and dull. Therefore, this picture, which is clear and has all the ports, the sea, and the village, is more suitable for the "Busan" banner. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:36, 17 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Taebaek, I suggest File:Taebaek Banner.jpg to change File:P20170829 135357766 CF79A71D-FBBE-4D67-992A-9044CDEA4E61.jpg. The representative picture of Taebaek is Taebaeksan Mountain and the panoramic view of the snow, but it was not. Therefore, I hope to change it to a picture that represents the Taebaeksan Cheonjedan. Jung Subin (talk) 06:49, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done Taebaek already has a banner that's larger than 2100px by 300px; any change to the banner should be proposed on the talk page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:42, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Ganghwa Island, I suggest 석모대교. The existing 'Ganghwado' banner is a dark and dull image. I think a banner with a brighter and brighter image will suit you better. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:45, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- No. The existing banner is a satisfactory sunset image. Please come back after you have agreement on the talk page that the replacement image is preferred by others. AlasdairW (talk) 21:51, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Hojong9474, you have very good explanations for your suggestions. Could you please start a discussion at Talk:Ganghwa Island about this? WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:28, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- No. The existing banner is a satisfactory sunset image. Please come back after you have agreement on the talk page that the replacement image is preferred by others. AlasdairW (talk) 21:51, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Nonsan, It does not have a banner of images associated with itself. So I recommend this image File:Eungdo Dang of Donam Seowon.jpg as the banner. This photo is a famous spot in Nonsan recognized by the World Heritage Committee.--Meloncookie (talk) 14:23, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
- I like this suggestion, @Meloncookie. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:58, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- 🔺 This still needs to be done. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:05, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- I like this suggestion, @Meloncookie. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:58, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Deokso, I suggest this image 덕소_삼패공원_가는_길_05 because there is no banner image.--Leeyj0401 (talk) 05:54, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- Unfortunately this image can't be cropped using the crop tool at the moment, as the licence hasn't been reviewed. I couldn't find a licence in English on the source page, so I don't want to crop it manually. Please try again in a few months, or suggest an alternative image. I see thst commons has an image of the Restaurant Plane, but the WP article claims that it is no longer there - is the plane still there? AlasdairW (talk) 22:19, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- @AlasdairW I checked the name of the uploader and blogger is same. 세아이아빠 . is this enough to confirm the license? Leeyj0401 (talk) 05:53, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't think that is enough. I have now looked at an online translation of the linked page. I didn't see clear statement that the blogger took the photo, or that the photo is available with Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 compatible license. Thanks for looking into this.
- I only found two photos of Deokso, of which only File:Korail Deokso Station Exit1.jpg is big enough to crop but it would be hard to make a banner from it. Do you have any of your own photos of Deokso, which you could upload to Commons? AlasdairW (talk) 23:28, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- @AlasdairW I confirmed that the restaurant plane disappeared. I'll edit that section. Leeyj0401 (talk) 06:00, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

- Not done Sejong City already has a banner. AlasdairW (talk) 16:44, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Nonsan, I suggest 논산_명재_고택. Currently, there is no image banner for the 'Nonsan' area. Therefore, it would be good to replace the banner with the picture. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:11, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- No, that image is 800 × 533 pixels, which is not wide enough. Please choose another image. Also see alternative suggested above. AlasdairW (talk) 21:10, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- A different image has been suggested for this town above. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:59, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- No, that image is 800 × 533 pixels, which is not wide enough. Please choose another image. Also see alternative suggested above. AlasdairW (talk) 21:10, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Daejeon, I suggest Daejeon_Expo_Bridge_2020_2. Currently, Daejeon's banner uses an image that is out of focus on the dark night background. Therefore, I propose an image of a beautiful natural environment with daytime scenery as a banner of the Daejeon area. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:16, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Sinchon, I suggest Sinchonmuseum. Currently, there is no banner image in the "Shinchon" area, so it would be good to add a banner with the photo. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:20, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- No, that image is only 500 pixels wide. Please suggest something which is over 2100 pixels wide. AlasdairW (talk) 22:21, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Gumi, I suggest DaeWon_reservoir_SunSan_Resting_Place(Highway). Currently, banner photos in the Gumi area contain photos of kimchi, a Korean culture, rather than representing the region. Therefore, the photo containing the natural environment of Gumi is recommended as a banner image of Gumi. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:27, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not done The image you suggest is 2,048 × 1,536 pixels, and the article already has a banner; any change to the banner should be proposed on the talk page. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 02:46, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Uljin County, I suggest File:Korea Route7 02 (16514656327).jpg. The banner now has nothing to do with Uljin.--Iddd00 (talk) 06:32, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- I am not happy with the licencing of this image. Although it is tagged with the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 Generic licence. The description gives restrictions which don't fit with that licence.
- Surprisingly this image of the nuclear power station looks like it would make a good crop: File:Ulchin (now Hanul) 04790182 (8506930230).jpg. Is this suitable? AlasdairW (talk) 10:53, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- 🔺 This still needs to be resolved. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:07, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
- For Flying to South America, I suggest File:Avión en vuelo.JPG, cropped to show the plane in the sky. I suggest cropping this horizontally as well, to remove some of the blue sky on the right, so that the plane is closer to the center (or even on the right-hand side). That should reduce the risk of the long article title covering up the plane. WhatamIdoing (talk) 01:27, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done. I've tried to minimise the sky, but our 2100- by 300-pixel requirement means the plane slightly towards the left. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 05:44, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. At default zoom in my web browser, the page title and the airplane align very nicely – almost like "Flying to South America 🛫". WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:02, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

- For Omiyage, I suggest File:Christmas-xmas-gifts-presents (23698727474).jpg. I think a stripe taken near the bottom will look best. WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:11, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 06:07, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Nonsan, i suggest this image for the banner File:논산 명재 고택.jpg for Nonsan. --2019046062 최혜린 (talk) 05:54, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- @2019046062 최혜린, a different image has been suggested for this town above. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:02, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Ulsan, I suggest 태화강,울산. Taehwa River is the representative river of Ulsan. And as Ulsan is undergoing industrialization smoothly, I think it would be good if a banner that shows the appearance of the city center could be used as a banner for Ulsan.Hojong9474 (talk) 05:57, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Hojong9474 has started the discussion at Talk:Ulsan#Banner Suggestions. Unfortunately, I don't think this image is big enough. When you click on the link for the image, and you look under the image, it says (in small text):
- Size of this preview: 800 × 530 pixels. Other resolutions: 320 × 212 pixels | 640 × 424 pixels | 936 × 620 pixels.
- Original file (936 × 620 pixels, file size: 244 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
- Banners need to be ≥1800 pixels wide. This one is only 936 pixels wide. We will need to find a different picture. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:07, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Namhae, I suggest 남해_가천마을_다랑이_논. Currently, the banner image of Namhae is full of ships, and Namhae is famous for its many rice paddies. Therefore, I think it would be good to change the banner of Namhae to the image I suggest.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:01, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done I have put the banner on the talk page, where there is a discussion on banner replacement. AlasdairW (talk) 23:55, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

- Done I have put the banner on the talk page, where there is a discussion on banner replacement. AlasdairW (talk) 23:55, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Gayasan National Park, I suggest Gayasan. Gayasan National Park would be nice if Gayasan Mountain became the representative image. Therefore, the banner also recommends the image of Gayasan Mountain.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:06, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- The image is big enough. The discussion is at Talk:Gayasan National Park#Banner suggestion. It would help if someone could make a banner from the suggestion and post it in the discussion. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:09, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Somaemuldo, I suggest Somaemuldo_Island_20190510_03. The banner picture of the current retail map is very blurred and dull. Therefore, it would be good if the banner was replaced with an image that shows the retail price more clearly.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:08, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- This image is big enough. The discussion is at Talk:Somaemuldo#Banner Suggestions. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:10, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Nantong, I suggest File:Nantong 2.jpg. There is no picture on this page, I think we can add this sunset to make the city look gentle.Csiiiyu (talk) 06:18, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Csiiiyu, thank you for this suggestion. I think this is a good suggestion. It is a very nice picture, and it is big enough. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:11, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- For Paju, The banner on this page is Seoul, not Paju. so I suggest Paju_Soryeongwon. --Leeyj0401 (talk) 06:23, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Leeyj0401, thank you for telling us about this error. Do you know where (in Seoul) the old banner is? (It's okay if you don't know.) The name of the old banner is c:File:Paju Banner.jpg and I would like the old banner to have an accurate name. If you can tell me what's in the picture or where it is (street name? neighborhood? building? monument?), then I can use that information for the new name. Otherwise, I will suggest a plain name like "Seoul Korea 1 banner".
- The suggested new picture is big enough to make a banner. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:16, 3 November 2022 (UTC)

- For Jeongseon, Jeongseon's current banner is a focus-out vegetable picture. I think the picture of the tourist road based on the traditional song in this city would be better. So I recommend this image File:Jeongseon Arirang Train 20150116 03 (16289861551).jpg as the banner. Meloncookie (talk) 06:40, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Cheonan, I suggest Cheonan_landscape. Currently, banners in the Cheonan area are images of yellow dust in the background. In addition, since the natural scenery is not shown or there is no landmark, it would be better to replace it with that image. And I recommended minimum dimensions are 2100*300 pixels.Hojong9474 (talk) 06:04, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Songdo, I suggest Songdo_Central_Park_and_Posco_Tower_Songdo. The existing 'Songdo' banner is too cloudy and dull. I think a bright banner where you can see Songdo at a glance would be better. - For Tiel, I think the current banner doesn't represent the city itself but rather an area on the outskirts. I suggest changing it to File:Cultural centre Zinder, Tiel.jpg, File:Tiel waterpoort C.jpg, or File:Vogeleilandje in stadsgracht - 2 Tiel 1306 - 023.jpg, as they give a more accurate image of the city itself rather than the Betuwe region. The Waterpoort image has historical significance, while the other two display a scenery and image that are unique to this city. --RonanHoogmoed (talk) 06:03, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- @RonanHoogmoed: I've tried to crop the images you linked, but none really give a satisfying result in a 7:1 ratio. I've gone ahead and made some alternatives that I think work, so let me know what you think: #1 (Flipje), #2 (Waterpoort). Also, the current banner is one of the banners I made for Rivierenland/Betuwe, so yes, it definitely isn't perfect for Tiel itself. Wauteurz (talk) 17:12, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Also, do note that Tiel has a banner at present. When you have found a banner to replace it with, you should suggest it at the talk page for Tiel before you commit to changing it, though I doubt there'll be much opposition. Wauteurz (talk) 17:15, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for creating the 7:1 images. I think the first one is a great alternative as it fits the city a lot more, but I'll go ahead and suggest it on the talk page so other people can give input on what they prefer. RonanHoogmoed (talk) 05:37, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Chorzów, after the discussion here, I suggest File:Chorzów, Dzielnica Chorzów II - fotopolska.eu (306185).jpg (watermarks need editing out). I've listed a few other suggestions there, the problem is the banner 7:1 ratio makes most images hard to work with. But the current banner is so bleak/sad... --Piotrus (talk) 11:22, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- This is a better photo. However, its width is only 1,371 pixels, and per Wikivoyage:Banners a pagebanner should be at least 2,100 pixels wide. This ensures that the image is not pixelated/blurry on wider screens.
- Are there any good photographs of Chorzów that are at least 2,100 pixels wide? They do not need to be at the 7:1 ratio as Commons has a tool called CropTool which I use frequently to crop images to the 7:1 banner dimension ratio. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 11:53, 16 October 2022 (UTC)

- For Monopoly, I think that File:Monopoly hotrod die cast model on board - Credit to https homegets.com (49778069468).jpg is a great photo, but I don't think it's going to be possible to get a stripe of the correct proportions from it. I thought that showing a bit of the house and the metal racecar would be nice, but I think it may be too tall. If that doesn't work, then I think that a less artistic, but more easily recognizable strip of spaces on the edge of the board game in File:Playing Monopoly.jpg would be best. - I have two ideas for Travelling with military responsibilities. The first idea is File:Robert M. Gates, left, shakes hands with U.S. Army Gen. John Craddock.jpg (bottom edge, crop so the hands are in the middle), with the concept being that travel is a partnership, and the person with military responsibilities is being welcomed into the civilian place. The other idea is army-green luggage. For this, I think that either File:Best Warrior exercise, USAG Benelux 140701-A-RX599-059.jpg (crop to show the small suitcase) or File:Exercise Noble Partner 20 Loading Luggage.jpg (crop to focus on the duffel bags) would work. Hi, everyone! I looked for a Requests for banners page and didn't find one, so:
We've had a Downstate New York article for a little while now, but it has no custom banner. Anyone want to try creating one? It doesn't have to be a view of New York City, though a distant one from upriver or conceivably far into Queens might be good. Any interesting view from any of the Five Boroughs, Long Island, Westchester or Rockland could work. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:13, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- It's not perfect, but what are your thoughts on this one? It's cropped from a photo taken near the old Tappan Zee. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 07:04, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks! I don't like the pillar with "WARNING" on it, but I like the rest of it, and it's surely better than no custom banner. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:20, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- I think a more distant view would fit better. I tried File:EagleRock 002.jpg with the croptool without storing the result. The result was quite nice. --FredTC (talk) 09:06, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- Nice, but the region is wrong. This is Downstate New York, not New Jersey. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:15, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I know, but New Jersey is only the camera position. The main subject is New York. That is why I made the suggestion. --FredTC (talk) 09:31, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
- I understand, but I'd rather the view were from Rockland County. I think I saw a photo of a distant view from Suffern on Commons. I'll see if I can find it and it's big enough. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:45, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

- Maybe a mosquito net? —Granger (talk · contribs) 12:33, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
- OK. Do you have any ideas for that picture? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:24, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- From a quick read of the WP articles, it looks like type of mosquito is not the main carrier of malaria. The photo was taken in Wellington which is not a malaria hotspot. AlasdairW (talk) 18:14, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- Could a stripe be taken at an angle from File:2019-09-18 Girls soccer — Hudson Lady Explorers vs North Royalton.jpg (to show the feet and the ball, maybe mirror-imaged?) for a banner at Association football? WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:51, 26 December 2019 (UTC)
- I somehow missed these. I'll take a look at them tomorrow. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 01:09, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
- A great example of tomorrow never comes! But I tried, also rotating the image -20 degrees, but I don't think it works. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 17:36, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with SelfieCity—I can't find a way to include the ball in the frame without making the legs visually confusing. —Granger (talk · contribs) 18:27, 10 May 2020 (UTC)
- I've added a different banner instead. —Granger (talk · contribs) 18:32, 10 May 2020 (UTC)

[edit]- For Travelling on a low-carbohydrate diet, perhaps File:Egg texture 169clue.jpg or File:Cheese Cart in Gordon Ramsay restaurant.JPG or File:Mixed nuts spread.jpg. WhatamIdoing (talk)
- Done Thanks, the nut picture was used.
- For Flying and health, perhaps File:Patrulla Águila in formation flight with the Flying Bulls.jpg or File:Proteus mirabilis 01.jpg or File:An-70 takeoff.jpg or File:SpaceShipOne Takeoff photo D Ramey Logan.jpg (slightly creepy looking aircraft) WhatamIdoing (talk)
- Done The coach class interior of a long haul plane seemed more relevant, but the suggestions may be useful elsewhere.
- For Carsharing, perhaps File:Dorchester Hotel parking (7846443468).jpg (more ideas soon?)
- Done These cars looked a bit too grand for carsharing, but the inspiration was useful in creating File:Carsharing banner Autolib Paris.JPG.

- For Allergies, maybe ragweed with a bee in File:Ragweed and fly.jpg or flowers with a bee in File:Blue Ridge Parkway Mountains, yellow flower milk weed with honeybee. 01.jpg (image will be rotated in a few hours). Weed and grass allergies are much more common than food allergies. Alternatively, File:Citizens of Ko Pha Ngan.jpg or File:Blanca-negro, gatitos durmiendo.jpg could represent pet danger allergies. WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:34, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Done I used File:Cheese Cart in Gordon Ramsay restaurant.JPG which was suggested earlier. The article has more about food allergies than grass or bee stings. AlasdairW (talk) 22:06, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- For Hacker tourism, perhaps a pilgrimmage site: File:Hackerbruecke 03062009 02.JPG. Alternatively, File:Backlit keyboard.jpg or similar. WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:39, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

- For Organizing a group trip, perhaps File:Ducklings in Shaw Creek.jpg (although "herding cats" might sometimes seem like a more apt metaphor). WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:47, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- Done – that image was a little blurry, but thanks for the idea – I added another duckling image —Granger (talk · contribs) 00:48, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

- For Geographical records: Perhaps File:Os lencois.jpg, but mirror-image (so the silhouetted person will still be visible), or File:Richards-Old-Ocean's-Gray-and-Melancholy-Waste-1885.jpg (the empty, trackless ocean). Another idea: peaks of mountain ranges. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:26, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- Done Thanks for the inspiration - I choose a picture of the Dead Sea which had a sign displaying the record altitude. AlasdairW (talk) 21:45, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- For Golden Week holidays in China, perhaps File:Great Wall of China at Badaling, China, April 2004.jpg, although from the sounds of it File:Beijing traffic jam.jpg or File:Traffic jam in Haikou, Hainan, China 01.jpg (focused on the buses) might be more representative. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:38, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- Done the Great Wall image was used, which I thought was a good combination of crowds and a recognisable location. 14:24, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- For Boxing, I was looking for something like File:Fencing (1890) (14800360033).jpg, but I didn't find anything quite so perfect for our dimensions. File:20140528 - Carlos Takam 20.jpg or File:20140528 - Engin Karakaplan 10.jpg might work, or wee might need to keep looking. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:00, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

- For Hanoi, perhaps File:Van Mieu Hanoi 4.jpg, File:Van Mieu Hanoi 3504185612 088052eb96 t.jpg, File:Hoan Kiem Lake - panoramio.jpg or File:Citadelle de Hanoï (3).jpg. The current banner is too generic and looks like it could come from any other Southeast Asian city, so one of the suggested ones will be more uniquely Vietnamese, and better illustrate what Hanoi is known for (historical attractions). - No worries. You don't have to use the ones I suggested either. I think any historical attraction built in traditional Vietnamese architecture will do, as long as it's actually located in Hanoi. The dog2 (talk) 00:43, 10 May 2019 (UTC)

- Since I'm requesting one for Hanoi, why not one for Ho Chi Minh City as well? The current banner is also very generic and not something that is iconic about the city. Unlike Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City is not as well-known for traditional Vietnamese architecture, but it has some really pretty French colonial buildings, and the former South Vietnamese presidential palace. Perhaps some of these will work: File:HCMC Ben Thanh.jpg, File:HCMC Binh Tay.jpg, File:Ho Chi Minh City Hall (Hotel de Ville de Saigon).jpg, File:Saigon Opera House 2014.jpg, or File:Palacio de la Reunificación, Ciudad Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, 2013-08-14, DD 02.JPG. The dog2 (talk) 20:23, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- It's hard to turn those buildings into a 7:1 stripe. The existing one is a striking image, although it's not really the city architecture. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:24, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- Yes. The current banner, while not too related to the city, is eye-catching. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 17:28, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
- I would say there does not exist consensus to change the page banner, so we should not change this banner. I will archive the discussion. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:32, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

- This is hard, actually. Does anyone think the banner looks unacceptable? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:30, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
- The existing one is a bit gray – all the same color. Maybe File:Day3@Shillong.jpg? Or something from c:Category:Elephant Falls, Shillong? File:Sunset in Shillong.JPG is from Shillong, but it feels a bit generic, like it ought to be for a travel topic rather than a specific location. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:24, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

- For Shopping in China, perhaps File:Shoes in a spanish shoe store.jpg. I think the tightly packed shoes will look more interesting than File:Shoe shop at Beijing Railway Station (20150630111013).JPG. The umbrellas in File:Street market near Yuyuan Gardens in Shanghai.jpg are another alternative, with more of a street-market feel. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:14, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

- A stripe out of File:JfSanVicente9017SapaStoTomasfvf 14.JPG or the middle of File:07811jfPottery in the Philippines in the Garden City of Guiguinto, Bulacanfvf 06.jpg could represent local pottery. File:04300jfPoblacion Markets Avenue Roxas Rizal San Carlos Pangasinanfvf 14.JPG shows baskets. File:Cavinti,Lagunajf8276 06.JPG is woven like basketry but more colorful. The items in this photo are probably made from pandan leaves, and they look like the kind of thing someone might pick up as a souvenir or a little gift for people back at home. I couldn't find any good images of a barong Tagalog (the traditional shirt). WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:51, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

- For Auxiliary languages, I think that File:A Specimen by William Caslon.jpg has a lot of potential, especially on the right-hand side of the image. If that doesn't appeal to you, then please ping me, and I'll go look at some undecipherable/unknown scripts. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:47, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

- Lounges is a slightly ambiguous title, so I looked at the lede and the article is referring to the kinds of lounges where people drink wine, etc. I think a picture of a wine glass, or some fancy covered seats, seem like they may be most appropriate for the banner. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:26, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

- Boreal forest currently uses a default banner but the first image in it is a map that shows the forest stretching east-west across Canada, Russia, Finland, etc. It looks to me like a cropped version of that map could become a banner image. I don't think this important, since the article is a new travel topic without a lot of content, but worth doing if it is easy. Pashley (talk) 22:45, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
